About Mikomoto Island

Destination: Numazu, Shizuoka

Dive Site: Osezaki

Overview: Sheltered on the inner shores of Suruga Bay—Japan’s deepest oceanic trench—Osezaki is celebrated globally as mainland Japan’s premier macro diving capital. The tranquil, protected inner bay provides aquarium-calm conditions ideal for critter hunting, muck diving, and slow-paced macro photography, while the outer reefs slope into dramatic drop-offs and expansive white-sand plains. From bizarre anglerfish and delicate nudibranchs to mysterious oceanic wanderers rising from the abyss, Osezaki pairs unmatched marine biodiversity with the unforgettable sight of Mt. Fuji rising across the bay upon surfacing.
